Roadtrip to Tobermory

Vacations can be expensive there's no doubt about that so a staycation can be a cheaper and less stressful alternative as Canada has so much to offer. A road trip is just one of those things that should be on your bucket list! It's a great way to explore local towns around you or small one' far away. Tobermory is 3 hours away driving along they way you will see plenty of greenery and country side which is refreshing if your an urban dweller. I went with my mom and sister as we haven't done a trip together in FOREVER leaving on a Monday at 5:15 am got McDonald's for breakfast and we stopped at a Rachel's Diner for a bite to eat.

When we got there we did a hike to the Grotto it was beautiful scenery lots of rocks to climb through so wear proper shoes. I took a quick dip in the water but it was of course terribly cold but had to do it coming all this way. Afterwards we got into town to do the boat ride to Flowepot Island it was $50 for the ticket but the gallery is included and a shipwreck viewing if you do the one with the glass bottom. You get dropped off and have an hour to do as a please. Seeing the formation of the rocks is incredible and there were people diving off the cliffs. As well as seeing the shades of blue the lake changes is beautiful. When we got back on land we checked in the motel which cost $200 to take a rest before heading to dinner. You have a good selection walking distance which is a perk my sister and I shared chicken wings and perogies while my mom had a salad.

Lastly we got ice cream which was only $2.69 for a small I got Heavenly Hash a chocolate dream and visited the Sweet Shop (which has been producing sugary goods for 35 years) to take something back home $6.99 surprise bag was my choice. Next day we did breakfast at The Coffee Shop had a scone and iced coffee $2.99 it was the BEST I've ever had. Then observed the gallery learning the history of the location and a hike to the Lookout Tower it was very unsettling to climb 60 ft high as you can see everything look down the way it is constructed so be warned. Next spot another hike to a Lookout so if you are outdoorsy and active this trip would be for you. It is very peaceful for an afternoon dose of fresh air and all you hear is the birds once you get to the end the vast lake is there for your viewing pleasure.

The Big Tub Lighthouse was the final attraction to visit you can't go inside but can bring floats to lounge in the water with or just sit on a bench and take in the sights. On the way back we stopped at a giant cottage chair to take pictures on and burgers for dinner at Champs and Superburger deep fried mac and cheese bites are to die for! If you wish to take your time there are markets, thrift shops, and quirky shops to check out as you reach downtown area's. All in all I would rate here 4/5 but lots to see on the way like Sauble Beach and Wiarton to Owen Sound. On a different note I got free tickets to the Logic concert thanks to my sister so my summer has been pretty litty lol Happy Friday the 13th!
